SANYO's Project to Transform its Kasai Plant into an Eco-friendly Plant

Tokyo, December 10, 2009 -- SANYO announce that its "Green Energy Park" under construction at the Kasai Plant (Kasai City, Hyogo Prefecture) has been selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) as one of the "FY2010 2nd Model Projects Promoting Low CO2 Emissions for Houses & Buildings." The "Green Energy Park" is scheduled for completion in July 2010.
Today, CO2 emissions from homes and businesses continue to increase. Given these circumstances, the MLIT is powerfully promoting reduction of CO2 emissions from houses and buildings, and as part of this initiative it is publicly soliciting projects which involve construction of houses and buildings with low CO2 emissions. For the projects which have been selected, a part of their construction cost will be subsidized by the government. For this fiscal year, from among the 52 projects entered, 20 projects have been selected, including SANYO's "Green Energy Park," which received a high evaluation for being a "highly-proactive project to create a futuristic environment-conscious plant that goes a step ahead of the times."
