U.S. to Reduce Production of HCFC Refrigerants
The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) wants homeowners to be aware that in just six months, the United States will significantly reduce its production of a refrigerant used as the coolant in the majority of air conditioning systems operating today.
Owners of home cooling systems, including dehumidifiers, central air conditioners, air-to-air heat pumps, ground-source heat pumps, and ductless air conditioners will be affected by the next major step in the phase-out schedule of the ozone-depleting refrigerant known as HCFC (R22). On Jan. 1, 2010, the United States will prohibit the use of new R22 in new systems; however, existing R22 can be removed from equipment and recycled and reclaimed to be used to recharge existing equipment. In addition, a smaller quantity of R22 will be produced until 2020 to service existing systems.
Shanghai Inverter AC Promotion Alliance's Third Summit Held in Shanghai
Jointly hosted by the Shanghai Commercial Trade Association of Household Electric and Electronic Appliances, and the Shanghai Quality Supervision and Inspection Technology Institute, the Shanghai Inverter AC Promotion Alliance Summit Forum, themed 'Inverter AC; its Fast Development,' was held on June 25, 2009 in Shanghai.
Technical experts, marketing directors and sales executives from 15 leading air conditioner manufacturers, including Hisense, Haier, Gree, Midea, Changhong, Shinco, Aux, Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric(Melco), Daikin, Fujitsu General, Panasonic, Sharp, Samsung, and Sanyo, expressed their opinions on the theme. Experts provided explanations for the reason why inverter air conditioners are energysaving, while marketing directors and sales executives introduced the latest products and marketing strategies.
Energy Solution & Thermal Storage Fair '09
The Energy Solution and Thermal Storage Fair 2009, organized jointly by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), Heat Pump & Thermal Storage Technology Center of Japan, and the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan, was held over three days from July 29 -31 at the Tokyo Big Sight international convention center.
This 8th edition of the fair was held under the theme of 'Cultivating a low-carbon society with heat pumps - A sustainable future with renewable energy.' Approximately 150 companies and organizations exhibited at the fair to publicize the latest information on energy and the environment as well as to offer their optimized energy solutions.
Actual units of equipment and systems that can help reduce CO2 emissions were exhibited at the fair, including technology that combines grid power with high efficiency heat pump systems and thermal storage systems. Examples of highly effective installations and the latest information including economic benefits were also introduced.
High Efficiency ACs for Hot Sales Season
With the ar rival of the 2009 sales season and the implementation of more energy-saving policies, almost all air conditioning manufacturers have launched a series of promotions for inverter air conditioners. Leading companies such as Gree, Midea, Chigo, Haier, Hisense Kelon and Galanz, are sparing no effort to push their energy-efficient products.
According to some distributors, high-end air conditioners with Energy Efficiency Grade Level III are the most popular products in this year's sales season. The percentage of inverter air conditioners has increased, which shows that energy-efficiency is being emphasized, and products with high energy efficiency will be popular in the market.
The control of air conditioners has become more humanized. There are fewer and fewer buttons on remote controls, the result of which is that they become lighter and slimmer. Along with the improvement of housing conditions and consumption levels, residential central air conditioners will also become popular in the future.
