Air-to-Water Heat Pumps Set to Qualify for ECA Scheme in UK
As a key component of the government's program to manage climate change, the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme was introduced in 2001 to encourage businesses to invest in low carbon, energy-saving equipment. The ECA scheme is administered by the Carbon Trust, a government-backed organization, and is designed to help the UK reach its Kyoto target of reducing carbon emissions by 20%.
Products identified on the Energy Technology Product List are eligible for the ECA scheme, meaning businesses that purchase these products can qualify for tax relief by claiming 100% first-year capital allowances against their taxable profits. Tax relief may also include certain attendant costs such as transportation and direct installation costs. The list is updated by the government once a year.
LS Develops 3,000 RT Centrifugal Chiller
On June 8, LS Mtron invited 50 customers from both Korea and overseas to the LS factory in Jeonju City, Korea to observe a performance test of its 2,500 RT 2-stage centrifugal chiller with single compressor that completed development in January 2009.
The model tested was the LTX 250 W 2-stage centrifugal chiller with single compressor, the cooling capacity of which is 2,500 RT. According to test results, efficiency was significantly upgraded compared with a single stage chiller: 10% to 13% improvement at full load and 24% improvement of NPLV (Non Standard Part Load Value) under ARI 550/590-2003. The 2-stage structure also allows the chiller to be more compact.
