Juny 04 - Renewable Energy 2008 Tokyo Fair
Dates: July 30 (Wed) - August 1 (Fri), 2008 10:00 - 17:00
Venue: TOKYO BIG SIGHT East Exhibition Halls
Organized by:
Japan Council for Renewable Energy
The Renewable Energy World Fair will be held at Tokyo Big Sight (Ariake, Koto-ku, Tokyo) over three days from July 30, 2008 to August 1. The fair will be co-hosted by the Japan Council for Renewable Energy, the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association and SEMI. The fair will bring together events that concern renewable energy and new energy, such as solar energy, hosted by each organization.
With the increasing significance of environmental problems, people in industrial circles, as well as in society at large are beginning to rely more on renewable energy and new energy as clean alternatives to energy produced from fossil fuels. Against this background, the public requires the opportunity for people from the industry to gather and communicate, and to collect and exchange information. In response to this requirement, the three organizations have come together to co-host an event on renewable energy and new energy so that the latest information can be disseminated to people both at home and abroad and to provide a chance for people in the industry to meet. In addition, the three organizations are striving to contribute to the development and promotion of the relevant industries.
Juny 04 - Daikin to Build A/C Plant In East Europe
Daikin Industries Ltd. plans to invest several billion yen and set up an air conditioner factory in Eastern Europe as early as 2010 to keep up with soaring demand in Europe.
The firm is still deciding where to build this plant, which will complement the two existing facilities in Belgium and the Czech Republic. But Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic are believed to be ranked high on the list of favorable host countries. The final location is expected to be set by the end of 2009.
Driven by unusually high summer temperatures in recent years, air conditioner demand has been growing sharply in Europe. Daikin forecasts that its air conditioner sales there will rise to 370 billion yen in fiscal 2008, ending March 31, 2009, more than tripling from slightly less than 120 billion yen in fiscal 2003.
Taking the growing global demand into account, Daikin has revised its medium-term business plan, which runs from fiscal 2006 to fiscal 2010.
Its new sales target for fiscal 2010 is 1.9 trillion yen, up from the initial range of 1.7 trillion yen to 1.8 trillion yen. The goal for operating profit has been raised to 190 billion yen. Daikin has also increased its capital investment budget for the three years through fiscal 2010 to 230 billion yen, up 44% from the preceding three years.
