Exhibition forum for the German and international refrigeration and air conditioning market in Nurnberg again: Being held on October 18-20, 2006
The German market for refrigeration and air conditioning equipment is still the leading market in Europe. One of the reasons for this is that consumers regard the comfort of an air conditioning or ventilation system as increasingly important. This means good prospects for economic activity in the industry this year. "We can therefore only advise all companies in the industry to use this success climate at IKK2006 in Nurnberg," says Rudolf Putz, General Manager of IKK Messe Wirtschafts- und Informationsdienste GmbH. "IKK 2006 Nurnberg is the ideal forum for presenting your products and services at the heart of Europe and on the world market at the same time."

March 25 - 2007 AHR Expo to Occupy Entire Dallas Convention Center

To meet the growing demand for more exhibit space from HVAC/R exhibitors around the world, AHR Expo Show Management has reserved the entire Dallas Convention Center for the 2007 AHR Expo. According to Clay Stevens, President of IEC, Show Producers and Managers, more than 1,200 companies have already reserved the space allocated for the 2007 event with almost a year still remaining until the Show. Consequently, IEC has now expanded the space to 350,000 square feet to accommodate the additional exhibitor demand. The upcoming Expo is on its way to being the biggest Show held in the Southwest for the HVAC/R industry. The 2007 Show, running January 29th through 31st, has already exceeded the amount of exhibit space occupied at the last Dallas Show held in 2000. The 2000 Show, also held at the Dallas Convention Center, had a net square footage of 315,021, attracted more than 45,000 HVAC/R professionals (including over 25,000 attendees) and more than 1,000 exhibiting companies.
Texas continues to be one of the largest residential and commercial HVAC/R markets in the United States. Currently Texas is experiencing a residential housing boom due to consumers' buying trends and low long-term interest rates according to the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University. With the nation's third largest concentration of companies that command more than $1 billion in annual sales, Dallas is an especially attractive market for the HVAC/R industry.
According to a recent study by The Freedonia Group, the demand for HVAC equipment is expected to grow to $14.3 billion by 2009. This growth will be driven by the increase in non-residential construction and residential remodeling.

March 21 - Hitachi Develops Comm'l CO2 Heat Pump Water Heater

Hitachi Home & Life Solutions Co. (Hitachi H&L), Kansai Electric Power Co. and Tokyo Electric Power Co. have jointly developed Hitachi Commercial-Use ECO CUTE, a compact, powerful and high-efficiency heat pump water heater for commercial use, intending to release it in June.
Adopting the environmentally friendly refrigerant CO2, the new unit has also incorporated a newly developed high-efficiency compressor and high-performance heat exchanger, realizing the industry's top-class rated COP of 4.07 as a commercial-use ECO CUTE. With more energy-saving water heating, it enables a reduction in energy costs.
With more compactness, the new heat pump unit requires less space for installation. A flexible system can be configured by combining up to 2 heat pump units, each having a heating capacity of 15 kW and up to 6 heat storage tanks, each having a storage capacity of 560l , thus ensuring up to 30 kW of heating capacity and a hot water storage capacity of 3,360l. As a result, it can meet needs of a variety of facilities such as restaurants and homes for the aged, which require water heating. From 2004, Hitachi H&L has reinforced sales of heat pump water heaters for small-capacity commercial use.
With the current expansion of the commercial-use ECO CUTE lineup, the company aims to expand its market share further.

March 17 - Supermarket Trade Show 2006

The 40th Supermarket Trade Show (SMTS) was held from March 1-3 at the Tokyo Big Sight under the sponsorship of the Japan Self-Service Association. SMTS was participated in by 681 exhibitors, 60% more than the previous show. Held concurrently were the "Super Showcase Japan (SSJ)," an exhibition specializing in food related equipment/machinery, Store Development Show and Nationwide Fair of Local Foods, an exhibition participated in by local food makers. According to the show organizer?s, 70,972 visitors came to see the show over the three day period.
In the category of refrigerated display equipment at the SMTS, major producers - Sanyo Commercial Sales, Okamura Corp. and Fuji Electric Retail Systems - displayed their open refrigerated display cases and refrigerated cabinets, which were full of fresh vegetables, meat, fruits and other food stuffs giving the impression of being in an actual supermarket.
While being required to respond to demand trends such as higher energy efficiency, utmost freshness control and work savings, refrigerated display case makers are also required to take environmental issues such as the adoption of new refrigerant into consideration. While endeavoring to improve the functions of each product, manufacturers are also proposing systems aimed at the overall optimization of various types of refrigeration equipment such as condensing units and air conditioning.
Sanyo, the manufacturer with the largest market share, announced recently that the company will release the "exserie (EX)" series of refrigerated display cases for supermarkets from June. The company introduced the new series' features by unveiling it at SMTS.
As a further evolved version of conventional refrigerated display cases , the new series comes as a "Super Showcase" capable of meeting various types of business and store layouts in the rapidly changing distribution/retail business. This has been achieved, according to the company, thanks to Sanyo's T5 tube (Slim-e) lighting system for refrigerated/freezing display cases, included as standard equipment.. The T5 tube (Slim-e) lighting system is more environmentally friendly, is cheaper to run, maintains a high freshness of food stuffs and also exhibits more sophisticated food presentation.
