Alternative Fluorocarbons Environmental Acceptability Study (AFEAS)
Alternative Fluorocarbons Environmental Acceptability Study program and
the Programme for Alternative Fluorocarbon Toxicity Testing (PAFT)
program were set up by 17 of the world's chemical companies to test
alternatives to CFCs for their Environmental, health, and safety
characteristics.
The AFEAS research program had two overall goals: First of all to
identify and help resolve uncertainties regarding potential
environmental effects of HCFCs and HFCs. Secondly to stimulate prompt
dissemination of accurate scientific information to the research
community, government decision makers, affected industries, and the
general public.
